In this 3-minute video interview conducted at the Arab Health Congress, Dr Norran Said reports that 3D breast imaging tomosynthesis provides an unprecedented ability to view lesions without the interference of overlapping tissues that compromises 2D mammography. This new technology appears so reliable that several experts, including Dr Said, are predicting that it will eventually replace conventional mammography as a standard screening tool because it eliminates the problems caused by breast density.

Thermal ablation has the potential to replace surgery in selected breast cancer cases
In this four-minute video interview conducted at the Arab Health Congress, Dr Michael Fuchsjaeger explains that thermal ablation, which can be accomplished with heat of cold, provides an opportunity for minimally invasive treatment of breast cancer. If ultrasound is employed as the ablative energy, this approach can be non-invasive. The potential advantages have been demonstrated in numerous studies, but one hurdle to more widespread use has been the absence of large randomized trials in which these techniques are compared to surgery.
